The Medicines Management Suite was designed to be a clean and contemporary teaching space reflecting the business like environment of the pharmaceutical industry and to facilitate new modes of learning and teaching through the latest ICT solutions. The space was stripped back to the original shell, and a clean palette of materials was used to highlight the pharmaceutical theme. Design elements were selectively introduced to reinforce the concept and provide a graphic reflection of the department. Vivid ceiling bulkheads pick up on the traditional symbol for the pharmacy and a simple reference to medicinal packaging was used to brand the teaching space. Innovative fold-away computer desks allow for teaching with individual computers, or with clear desks for group working. Feedback to the new teaching suite has been excellent with students dropping in to use the facility for group assignments when the room is not in use.
