D5 Architects LLP  working with the ballonist Pier Lindstrand , conceived, developed and detailed the new build bus and coach station within the Heathrow Airport central terminal area.


Built on top of the London Underground box to serve local bus, national coach and the underground station the concourse was built in the heart of Heathrow without closure of the existing station or circulation routes.The inflatable roof structure covers a central concourse area bound by retail food and drink offer units, plus ticket desks and principle access points to the bus and coach departure gates plus vertical circulation to the underground system below.

 

The whole project for this, the second busiest coach station in the UK was built in 26 weeks.
