D5 Architects LLP - Educational Links
D5 Architects have developed a strong relationship with the Birmingham School of Architecture at Birmingham City University. The practice encourages staff to take an active role in architectural education as visiting critics and tutors. Such a connection with the school not only gives the opportunity for qualified staff to give something back and support architectural education, its benefits to the individual and the practice are significant in terms of ensuring design skills are kept sharp and current. Partner Ian Shepherd, is currently an RIBA Part 3 professional examiner at the school, in addition to supporting the undergraduate programme as a Visiting Tutor.
The practice also supports other educational programmes that rely on contact with live projects through practice and annually offers work experience opportunities to school students and visits local schools through the RIBA education programme.
We actively support part time student staff with a commitment to provide a range of experience and support in preparation for professional practice qualifications. This often takes the form of whole office seminars where everyone in the office can bring their project experience to the discussion.
