Architects, Birmingham, was established by the partners in 1989, and
have since been expanding the practice through a diverse project base.
The partners have pursued differing and overlapping areas of expertise
giving D5 the diverse portfolio of completed and ongoing work illustrated
in this profile. Current projects in the office include a new build
church, office refurbishment, extension to city centre offices, new
further education college, airport masterplanning, multimodal public
transport interchange, Forestry Commission works, community resource
centre, school expansion strategies, contemporary reinterpretation of
agricultural farmsteads, internal airport refurbishment and airport
bussing facilities. D5 have also been appointed to the consultant team
for the term contract for all Centro works for the next 3 - 5 years.
Whilst
the partners have developed markets in different sectors,
the core ethos of the service offered has remained the same
across the practice. This is to offer the highest possible
quality of service, led by a partner and tailored to the
specific needs of each client and project. Partner
involvement continues through all stages of any
project.
The
partners believe that this level of commitment reflects the
aspiration of D5 to provide a full service and is reflected
in the high proportion of repeat work for existing clients,
such as Birmingham International Airport, North East
Worcester College, St Phillips Chambers, Church
Commissioners, Horne Family Holdings, etc.
D5 Architects provide a fully indemnified architectural service
as defined through the Royal Institute of British Architects
(RIBA) project work phases. The practice carries
Professional Indemnity Insurance, Public Liability Insurance
and Employers Liability Insurance.
D5 Architects operate a Quality Assurance system audited and
certified to BS EN ISO 9001:1994 for architectural and
planning supervisory services.
Project
and office management is aided by a range of cross platform
administration and CAD facilities operating on both PC and
Macintosh. Packages include: CAD; VectorWorks, Autocad,
Artlantis; Graphics and publishing; Adobe Photoshop, Adobe
Indesign, Administration; Microsoft Office
D5 operate a practice health and safety policy. The policy
covers visits to construction sites as well as for office
procedures.
All
professional staff attend RIBA approved CPD seminars
externally as well as internal presentations in accordance
with RIBA requirements.
